Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I live in the country and have a very long driveway. Can I use the Altitude Personal Snowplow?
A: Yes. It is designed for personal use for homes, farms, small business parking lots and laneways.

Q: How is the Altitude Personal Snowplow different from a commercial snowplow?
A: Commercial snowplows require professional installation and may void the vehicle’s warranty. Commercial snowplows are limited to full-size vehicles. The Altitude Personal Snowplow is designed to operate with most trucks and SUVs, and is a fraction of the cost.

Q: What kind of lift system does the Altitude Personal Snowplow have?
A: The lift system consists of a custom geared winch that is user-friendlier, and requires less maintenance, than more complicated hydraulic systems. The winch is connected to, and is powered by, your vehicle’s battery. The wired control box simply clips to the driver’s door window for convenience while plowing. The easy quick-connect cables allow you to disconnect the control box for storage when the plow is not in use.

Q: Can I assemble and install the Altitude Personal Snowplow myself?
A: Yes. The Altitude Personal Snowplow is a “do-it-yourself” product. The detailed Owner’s Manual will help you through the easy frame and wiring assembly. Each custom mounting system comes with it’s own diagram. The bolt-on design allows for easy self-installation without welding or special tools.

Q: How do I attach the plow to my vehicle?
A: Each snowplow requires custom mounting brackets to attach the plow to your vehicle. These brackets are custom designed to fit specific trucks and SUVs based on make, model, year, 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive capabilities. To see if your vehicle is listed, please refer to the on-line Mount Guide.

Q: What if my vehicle is not listed on the Vehicle Mount Guide?
A: SnowBear Limited is continuously expanding its mount selection; please call 1-800-337-2327 if your vehicle is not listed. If a mount specific to your vehicle does not exist yet, we offer a Professional Mount System that will require fabrication to fit your vehicle’s frame.

Q: How do I get a mounting system?
A: In most cases, the custom mounting brackets for your vehicle (specific to its make, model, year and 2wd or 4wd specifications) is included in the purchase price of the snowplow, however, some retailers stock and sell the mounts separately. Be sure to ask your retail Sales Associate for details on how to obtain your mount.

If you received a Mount Certificate in Box 1 of 2 of your snowplow purchase, you will need to order your custom vehicle mount separately from SnowBear Limited.

There are several ways to redeem your Mount Certificate (note: the SERIAL number located in the top right corner of your Mount Certificate will be needed to successfully order your vehicle mount):
  • Call SnowBear Limited at 1-800-337-2327
  • Fax your completed Mount Certificate to 1-866-767-2584, Attn: Customer Service Dept.
  • Order on-line

Once you have ordered your mount, it will be sent by ground courier service at no charge. You will receive it within 5 – 10 business days depending on your geographic location. Expedited service MAY be available for an additional charge to receive your mount sooner.

Q: Can I buy a plow that a store has fully assembled on display?
A: Display snowplows are pre-assembled and merchandised directly from SnowBear Limited and are saleable units. Since there is no packaging for these units, some parts are not shipped to the store. A Display Kit (including wiring, control box, owner’s manual, etc.) will be shipped when you order your mounting brackets.

Q: Can I take the Altitude Personal Snowplow off my vehicle when I am not plowing?
A: Yes. It is very easy to remove the snowplow from your vehicle. Just follow the directions outlined in your owner’s manual.

Q: Can I leave the Altitude Personal Snowplow on my vehicle?
A: SnowBear Limited recommends that the plow be removed from the vehicle when not in use. If storing the vehicle with the plow, lower the blade to the ground.(Note: The Altitude Personal Snowplow is not intended for highway driving).

Q: Does the plow angle from side to side?
A: Yes. There is a manual release handle that allows you to angle the blade in one of three positions from left to right with the pull of a handle.

Q: What if I change vehicles, or want to use the plow on more than one vehicle?
A: Additional cross members, mounting brackets and wiring cables can be purchased from SnowBear Limited.

Q: What is the warranty?
A: SnowBear Limited offers a 1-year limited manufacturer’s warranty on each new Altitude Personal Snowplow against manufacturing defects in workmanship and material for the original purchaser.

Q: Are snowplow accessories available?
A: Yes. SnowBear Limited offers a full range of exciting snowplow accessories. They may be available by Special Order through your retailer. You can also order by calling SnowBear Limited Customer Service at 1-800-337-2327 or by shopping online at The SnowBear Store.
